Ephemeral Bloom
Ephemeral Bloom
It all had to be just right
the season
the weather
the time
To allow that thin ray of light
to peek through
the trees
the leaves
To find almost out of sight
a slender bud
nodding in shadows
cool and verdant
Then coaxed awake
Flinging open wide
Yawning hot pinks
Pistils and stamens
In a vibrant moment
Had I blinked
I'd have missed it
Seeing only
Mud and rot
And I can think of it
and savor it
even now
